Why can SARPE sometimes move the maxilla forward?

The more SARPE results I see, the more obvious it is to me that it can move the maxilla forwards. Why is that? Is it because they cut it horizontally too?

There is an horizontal cut, indeed. Some protraction can be done after the operation.
