is there a point in which you can deprive your brain of oxygen? my nose is so blocked but i power through every day anyways. im worried im slowly giving myself brain damage. after 6 months of nose breathing i can now nose breathe 24/7 but ive hit a plateau and its not getting better than it is. its very uncomfortable and feels horrible a lot of the time. saw a really uninformed ear nose throath specialist who looked into my nose but he told me he couldnt see anything "particularly"wrong.

ive been trying to nose breathe while running lately but its nearly impossible.

I don't think you're supposed to force yourself to nasal breathe while participating in challenging physical activities. Oxygen needs to be inhaled really fast and the mouth is a lot better at this than the nose, hence everybody is breathing very hard while running, swimming etc.

This whole comment is just my opinion, but I don't think you should force yourself to breathe through your nose when you're running (excessively). Most people breathe through their mouth while running because they need a bigger intake of air fast so if that's your case too, it's ok. Everybody is breathing with their mouth when they do sports but it's just because they need more oxygen faster

I believe the more you try to breathe the more you feel lack of air...

alot of athletes breath through their nose only. If you really start struggling take 1 big breath then return to nose breathing, I've also found hard mewing can create a temporarily increase in amount of air from nasal breathing

 I'm a long distance runner,have been running/racing for 30 years. i was a semi elite runner and trained with Kenyans and elite runners from around the world, we all always breath through the nose even when the pace quicken. And, when we do breath through the mouth which it is not that often, it is just to get air out, Not IN, then we go back to just nose breathing.

These days i don't race anymore, i just run for fitness and i do mostly between 7 and 10 miles every time i go for a run, and throughout the whole run i mew, i just open my mouth to say hey to friends otherwise mewing all the way.

P.S. That photo in the avatar is me pacing a friend in the Brooklyn half marathon, late 90s.

@jeanmacdougall

How many seconds does it take you to take a full deep breath through your nose?

When you're dead obviously. One breath from your mouth can ruin your life. I hate my parents for not noticing it at early age. I literally have no chin and I'm social isolated.

@admin

If you play the victim like this you don't deserve to be helped and any attention ( even in real life)

Because any try to give you some advice is probably a waste of time with that attitute

It was for his sake. That attitude don't deserve empathy, but rather a lesson.

Ihatemyself boi! I blamed my parents too, my overly careful mother(but she has skizophrenia) and my controlling father who showed his love differently.. that their attitude made me socially anxious so they should respect my decisions, and my dad should be emphatietic. But parents are not orthodontists and I'm 100% sure he was just miserable not serious. It took me a lot of effort to make them understand me, writing books, rebelling, talking nicely,  rudely, but they are still my parents and wanted the best for me. My dad talked about being independent but he was so annoying, he didn't trust me bcs I'm not a party animal, i'm not perfect and seemed to often disagree with me, search my mistakes because I was disoriented thanks to my adhd I didn't understand how possibly can someone have no feelings and think I make excuses, control my life with the only thing I enjoy(a videogame, League of legends) even through serious depression. He didn't understand that I don't like any psichologists and they can't hrlp me and it won't work only when I wrote it down. I want to be independent and solve my problems myself, thats a gift ihatemyself. And even if they wouldn't listen I will move from the house once there are so much to solve problems, be hopeful whatever happens. Pm if you wanna talk about it, I have depressed fave persons. Find a hobby dude. I'm horribly antisocial in my class, there aren't shy-not excellent student ppl in there, and they weren't friendly at the start, but I talked to the whole class full of fear and now I feel safe, they don't ignore me, even tho I'm still antisocial but I need to focus learning and stuff and i have online friends and i don't care what others think..well will see

Care about opportunities, focus at the light. Music

Thanks thats all i hope s/he sees it.

listen dude, you dont understand the culture ihatemyself is coming from. theres a website called lookism. theyre all like that. self destructive, judgemental, unconstructive and toxic as hell. this place is allready seeing a bunch of lookism influx and its not a good path.

thank you @admin you did the right thing. if lookism users start flooding this place its OVER.

Well yeah the behavior was pretty lame, thats why I tought he was miserable. No one treated him like human, and immediately judged him, only the admin when he was banned. But he won't learn if we just get rid of him without empathy. Thats why they would hate society even more. Maybe emphatizing is a small thing, it's the opposite of logic, truth and logical advice, but it's still done together. When they are fragile and depressed, they wouldn't listen to any critism without it, thats rude. It must have been weird ppl treated this like celebration, of course admin did the right thing just blah blah, just step forward, no one needs to be perfect, he broke the rules bcs xy, just don't break it thats all.

this is the last post ill make about because i dont wanna clog up this great forum. had @ihatemyself been from any other forum i would feel pity for him and he wouldnt be treated that way. however you clearly dont know what lookism users are like.

lurk around on this website for an hour:  https://lookism.net/index.php

seriously, spend some time there and you will realise what kind of culture these people are a part of. anyone who uses the term "sub-human" should be insta banned.

I always breath through my nose as running, urge to breath through your mouth means hugely recessed making it harder for you to have proper fonction. Usain bolt claim that he breath through his nose by the way
