I’m 19 and I have been mewing for a couple of years, I have been looking into the MSE appliance to expand my palate but I don’t know If I would qualify because my maxilla is already slightly larger than my mandible. I have a slight overbite but mostly good occlusion on all teeth, I have never had braces or anything – my top molars slightly hang over the lower molars. Please let me know if this is a problem! Thanks!
Pull back the lips and compare the width of the bone rather than the teeth. If your maxillary width is narrower than your mandibular width, but your lower teeth tilt inward toward the tongue to compensate and avoid crossbite, then there’s a good chance that MSE could be used to expand your maxilla and the teeth could be adjusted with something like invisalign afterward to restore occlusion. If the bone of your maxilla is actually wider than the bone of your mandible already, then if you expanded the maxilla farther with MSE, there’s a good chance you would need some more invasive method to expand the mandible afterward to restore occlusion like SFOT or MSDO.
