I have been in the process of palate expansion for about a year. At first I was fairly inconsistent with it. I started lasted January with a mandibular palate expander, and then in July I started with the upper appliance (homeoblock). I started the treatment at the age of 18 years old and I am now 19. In the attached picture the left picture is a few months before I began expansion, the right is from a few weeks ago.
I took starting measurements of my zygomatic arches to track progress (if any). The initial measurement on 1/1/18 was 137.5mm on the widest part of the cheekbones. As of 2/2/19 the measurement now reads 144.25mm. Both measurements were taken using an outside calipers and I measured the inside of the outside calipers with vernier calipers.
Lastly, when I first started my smile showed about 7-8 teeth. Now I can clearly see 10 teeth while smiling. I am still expanding and will keep you all updated in the future! You can ask me any questions you would like about the palate expansion process and I will try to answer.
Nice progress. From what to what IMW did you expand? Did you get the appliance because of dental problems or did you just want to improve your aesthetic?
Did you purchase a mandibular palate expander? Or are you seeing a orthodontist?
