Can I expect any improvement?

Hi all - newcomer here. 31 year old male.

A brief rundown on my situation:

- Had major crowding in my formative years - most likely due to my childhood asthma which led to mouth breathing - which most likely was a major factor in my underdeveloped face.

- had 3 teeth removed in my maxillary at 11 to make way for braces which I got at 12. Had them removed at 14 with 'good' results.

- always felt my teeth looked slightly too big for my mouth. Small chin, small mouth weak jawline etc...

- last year just before my 30th birthday was hit with crushing pain due to severely impacted and infected wisdom teeth. Had all four removed. Mandibular was a coronectomy due to the teeth being too close to the nerve.

- left mandibular got reinfected and did not heal properly so had follow up surgery 4 months later. My lower left lip and left mandibular canine has not had full nerve recovery. Second mandibular molars are now facing back in to my jaw.

- now 15 months later after a dental check up I have a slight infection in my right mandibular molar. Nothing major.

I must add that I'm actually not a bad looking guy, but especially since my wisdom teeth extraction I've noticed more of a change in my face. I experience more neck discomfort, random tooth pain, jaw tightness/TMJ. None of this debilitating, just frustrating and would like to avoid any health issues later on.

I'm curious whether 'mewing' or myofunctional therapy can help my situation.

Thoughts?

Thanks!

Hi all - bumping this and giving an update. A couple of months ago I had more extractions. The two coronectomies that I had in my mandibular are now fully extracted and had extra molar on my left removed. All of this was because the bone was not filling properly 18 months after my initial wisdom teeth procedure. Aiayaiyai! I'm left with 25 teeth now.

I kinda don't where to start because everything is so crowded. My tongue is so crammed when I try and put it to the roof of my mouth it feels like it doesn't even go up. My arch is so narrow too. When I try to 'mew' with proper posture and and chin tuck - my teeth clench together involuntarily.

What are my options? Should I see a myofunctional therapist? Any other specialist? Keep in mind I'm not doing this for aesthetic reasons, although that is an added bonus, so surgery is off the table for me.

Proper posture is physiological. As proper diet. You should do it no matter what, you will feel better. Everything about  oral posture is on internet but if you really cant do mewing by yourself yes you should try to find a myofunctional therapist.
