The only posts I have found on this forum about SmileDirectClub are from DarkIndigo, who is obviously against them (he claims the treatment causes patients to develop depression and suicide). Other than that, seldom have they been talked about here. What is the consensus?

I have a molar crossbite on the left side, so I am interested in knowing if it’s worth it giving it a shot or not.

Don´t.

If you actually have a crossbite, aligners won’t do much and you really should seek the opinion of an orthodontist.

You may want to consider checking your teeth/gums before starting a treatment online

Customer reviews and reviews i saw on the internet are negative.

@roflcopters

I have already talked to orthodontists, they said I would need braces for a year. (It’s not an skeletal issue)

The crossbite has been there for atleast 5 years (I’m 20), and I have been trying to correct it through mewing ever since I entered this forum (about 3-4 years ago) with no success. I have recently tried to use myobraces, but they’re so painful I can’t stand them for more than 3 hours at a time, and I can’t get myself to sleep with them on.

I have tried to avoid braces, not only because they’re expensive, but also because traditional orthodoncy goes against mewing. But I also feel like if I don’t fix my crossbite, my progress is gonna slow down considerably, so I’m against the wall and the blade.

Would you go with braces or not?

Depends on the crossbite.

Mewing with a crossbite/asymmetries is very hard on a neurological level, because building the lingual/body/mind connection usually will go against everything your body is used to do. Even tho it might be a small crossbite, your body/head position twists a bit. Shoulders, hips, your talking changes etc..

Symmetry is probably the most important thing in order to mew properly and achieve results.

Have you had any extractions done?

Having this said, if the crossbite is minor/dental, Damon braces/Invisalign/Clear aligners may actually be enough.

That’s exactly what I have been thinking and that is why I believe fixing my crossbite is a priority, even if it’s not through mewing.

I haven’t had extractions thankfully.

I just got my results from my 3D scan, I will create a new post with all my thoughts and pictures, I hope you can check it whenever you want to.
