Gummy smile and slightly recessed chin

Hi everyone,

I am a 22 years old male and I have a gummy smile coupled with slightly incompetent lips and a weak chin. I know that the natural solution to my problem is orthognathic surgery but it scares me. Also, my bite is pretty good.

Nonetheless, I have seen that the use of TADs has given great results to impact the maxilla in some cases (for example https://meridian.allenpress.com/angle-orthodontist/article/87/4/625/58778/Treatment-of-vertical-maxillary-excess-without ).

Does anybody know about them here? What are their limitations? Can they be used when there is vertical maxillary excess but the bite is not open?

Thanks
