Hello, I’m about 3 weeks into mewing. I turn 30 years old this fall. After researching proper tongue posture, practicing proper tongue posture, and repeating, I realized that I have a palate with a high arch. As the question introduces this thread, has mewing alone brought change for you? If so, please describe your tongue placement and the changes you’ve had.
I ask this question because there does not appear to be much information out there on this issue. Mike Mew has a video on the topic of a narrow palate, but it wasn’t clear whether that is simultaneous with a high arched palate. I recognize that palate expanders are meant to deal with a narrow palate, but do they also assist with a high arched palate? If you have any idea, please share what you know and any resources you’ve come across. Much appreciated!
Yet to see forward facial growth (I’m only 3 months in) but I had some minor developments that wasn’t too bad.
@azrael – Thank you for your reply. Yeah, from my research since posting this question, it seems that most of your active effort should be on raising your hyoid bone and lifting your posterior third followed by the suction hold. I don’t think a high vault will really impede the growth as much unless you have other underlying issues in addition such as forward body posture and a narrow palate, where a myotherapist may be required.
Also, thank you for sharing your experience. It seems that unless you fall within the younger age group, distinguishable forward facial growth can take years. See Astro’s commentary on his growth as well as the Mews.

I’m gonna have to disagree with you on the latter part of your response since I have seen substantial progress in adults (maybe even surpassing the progress made on children by the Mews) both in this forum and Reddit with techniques that are not currently being studied (as far as I know) or endorsed by Mike Mew and his father (I personally can attest to this since I’m an adult of 23 years who has experienced certain results at rates not seen often in the orthotropics community). I’m sure more experienced and knowledgeable members of this forum will enlighten you on those matters.

Apparently your palate will drop with an expansion treatment. I’ve never seen numbers though.
@azrael – Wow, that’s encouraging! Thanks for bringing my attention to that. I’ll keep an eye out for it
@thomas22 – Interesting, that does seem logical. Thank you for your response
I have yet to see forward growth, probably. But I have made some progress regardless, despite having a high palette. I would say I basically soft mewed.
